Alex's US-style choc chip cookies

Ingredients


3 cups / 384g

All purpose flour

1 teaspoon 

Baking powder

1 teaspoon 

Baking Soda

1 ½ teaspoons

Kosher Salt

1 cup / 227g

Unsalted butter, cubed

¾ cup plus 4 teaspoons / 166g

Light brown sugar

½ cup / 100g

Granulated sugar

2 large

Eggs

1 teaspoon 

Vanilla extract

2 cups / 340g

Dark or semisweet chocolate Chips


Line baking sheets with parchment paper


Preheat oven to 160 degrees


In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl mix the butter and sugars until fully combined.  Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until soft but lumpy.  Gradually add in the dry ingredients mix together until combined.  Fold in the chocolate chips.

Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces, form into balls but not packed or rolled. Handle as little as possible.  For best results, refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking but can be refrigerated for up to 1 day.  Place the cookie balls 2 inches apart on prepared sheet pan.  Bake for 15-20 minutes.  When in doubt if they are completely cooked take them out.  DO NOT OVER BAKE!!!!!  Let cool, then enjoy.
